Hi, can you please make available your Xmas song, " Christmas comes once a year"? It is impossible to find, and is one of my favorite songs. It was on the dreaded pop musac for years, but hey ahve dropped it, sigh.

11/23/2000: John Lasater jhl1@duke.edu
Deborah (or any of her fans who are reading this), I was a huge fan of your work with Animal Logic, but I've only recently discovered your solo work. Is your first album (FREUDIAN SLIP) available on CD anywhere? If not, will you be re-issuing it in the near future? A few other questions (as if you have time to answer them): -Are you the same Deborah Holland who wrote "Someday We'll Know" with Gregg Alexander of New Radicals? That's a fantastic song. -What is Michael Thompson (guitarist on the first Animal Logic album) up to these days? He's a really gifted musician.

11/14/2000: Morgan whisk412@mindspring,com
It was great seeing you again at Stockton, NJ. Thanks for a wonderful show! Glad you got my cartoon. Looking forward to hearing you again real soon!

11/13/2000: Jason T jasont@btr.quik.com
Hello, I'm sure I'm not the first to ask for this. I just recently heard your song "Another Night Alone". I have been looking all over to find a recording of this. I don't care if it's a single or a soundtrack. Can some one point me in the right direction on where I can buy it. I hope it's available or maybe Deborah can just send me a copy of some kind. I'm sure that's far fetched but you never know. Thanks Jason T

Deborah - Hi! I spoke with Carol C. the other night to tell her I was all set to go to your November 11 show in Stockton, NJ when something came up at the last minute. I just wanted to know if you have any other gigs scheduled in the NY/NJ area as I would love to catch your show. Your website looks great and its great to read the accolades from your fans. Hope I can catch you the next time around. Keep up the great work! - Rich

Re: "Come To Me" from Frightnight II. I forgot to mention that this song is now on Napster. Happy downloading.

11/6/2000: Deborah Holland
For all of you making requests for Circuitry Man songs- I would love to sell these but they are owned by Miles Copeland. Perhaps if you let him know there is strong interest in the soundtrack of C Man he'll consider releasing it. Thanks again for your support, Deborah

11/4/2000: joe pan joepan65@yahoo.com
ms. holland, i've been a great fan, like many others, since circuitry man. i was wondering if you would consider recording an album of torch songs, your voice is beautiful, and i think most fitting of that genre. if not a new recording, could you possibly get permission from irs records to sell mp3s of the songs from the soundtrack on your website? i saw the movie for the first time in 1992, and have been dilligently searching for a copy of it since, unfortunately to no avail. thanks, for the great music, i own all your recordings with the exception of the aforementioned.

10/29/2000: Adrian Griffis adrian@nerds.org
I wanted to add my voice to the others that I see here who are asking for the songs you sang on "Circuitry Man". They are the first works of your that I've heard, and they are what led me to look for your other works. The other works are worth the searching, but it frustrates me that I can't find these first songs of yours that I've heard. Will they ever be released in a form that I can purchase? In any case, keep on writing and performing.. Adrian

10/10/2000: Marco Tel m.e.tel@flash.a2000.nl
Hello, Deborah, my name is Marco Tel and I live in Holland. I've been trying for a couple of years now to get a grip on the 2 Animal Logic CD's but it looks like they're not sold anymore in the Netherlands. Can you, or one of your fans, tell me where I can order those CD's? Love your work. Bye Bye Marco

9/30/2000: vernon amos vamos@primenet.com
looks like lots of people first got introduced to Deborah Holland via Circuitry Man!. so has anyone managed to get a copy of that love theme song thingie?. i've been looking for that song on and off for years!!!.

9/28/2000: Ray McGinnis raymcginnis@earthlink.net
Hey Deborah, Just wanted to let you know that "The Book of Survial" is still my favorite album at this time. I go back and listen to Yes, Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell, Return to Forever, Emerson Lake and Palmer, Zoot Sims, Gentle Giant, John Coltrane, Chicago, Sarah Vaughn, Blue Oyster Cult, Kevin Gilbert, and many other greats from time to time, but yours is still now, my favorite of all. I love what you did. My youngest Sister just turned 40 and I turned her on to your CD, and she "loved" it! (esp. the "Happy Birthday" song {go figure}). I personally like, as a fellow musician, "I'm Sorry" and "Weak at Heart", but I found it really hard to pick favorites, since all of the songs are killer! Your Listener and Friend Always, Ray McGinnis

9/11/2000: John Kilroy johnkil@juno.com
Every now and then, a musician comes along who transcends everything I've heard before. Thank you, Deborah, for being "transcending." Without exception, everyone who hears your music in my car, home, etc. always asks the same question: "Why have I never heard of her before?" So, I'm attempting to singlehandedly convert upstate New York to your music.

9/9/2000: anna kfan102805@aol.com
dear Deborah: although I'm not your biggest fan,but I really love that song "come to me"from movie fright night pt2. I think that's the most beautiful song I ever heard. I realy enjoy your incredible voice! I've been search that song for a long long time, try to find a album or soundtrack that contain that song, but so hard. would you please tell me where I can find it? i'm dying to hear that song on cds. thank you so very much, and God bless you!

9/4/2000: Ray McGinnis raymcginnis@earthlink.net
Wow! Can't believe I left out such an important contraction in my last posting (i.e. "and"). I've spent quite a few hours listening to "The Book of Survival" since then, and it's my number 1 favorite music now. Thanks for recording it! I really, really love the music. I especially love the blend of your poetry, music, and the traditional "rural" musical techniques so eloquently performed by your friends on the project. I've been sharing the word actively since then. Your music is really great! Those of us who are starving musically do indeed need your music, so by all means, please carry on. Guess I have to caterorgize myself as a "FAN", Didn't mean to become one, it just happened! Please keep up with the creations! Ray McGinnis

9/1/2000: Lou Castro lou_castro@hotmail.com
Debby, how the hell are you? What's going on? I was at Aron's and saw your CD with your web address on it and so I thought I would e-mail you. Yes, I still live here and am still making a living in this nutty, wacky business. How are your kids and how many do you have? Anyway, e-mail me and let me know what's going on. i'm playing with Arthur Adams at Cozy's on the 16th of Sept. If you don't remember me, I was your bassist in the early 80's. Later, Lou Castro(Louis Anthony Castrogiovanni)

8/29/2000: Lauren Monaghan apple_bubble@hotmail.com
Hi! I'm a big fan of your song featured in the movie "Fright Night part 2", called "Come to Me". For almost 2 years now I have been searching for the lyrics to it, but have not been able to find them. I was wondering, and I know you're really busy, but, would you be able to email them to me, or tell me of an internet site that has them? It would be so very much appreciated!! Keep up the excellent work!

8/29/2000: Ray McGinnis raymcginnis@earthlink.net
I was just wondering today what ever happened to Animal Logic and did the research that led me to your site and then to Virgin Records, where I purchased "The Book of Survival". I't made me really happy to listen to your music again. The music was like an oasis in the middle of musical mediocrity. It became clear to me that the best thing I liked about Animal Logic was your songs, poetry, and wonderful voice. Keep writing the music and I'll keep listening telling people about it. Ray McGinnis, Burbank, CA

8/13/2000: John Reda jrcd654@aol.com
Hi Deborah. Well, we just got back from Bodles Opera House, and as expected I was not disappointed. You were great, and so was your brother. I seem to have lost your e-mail address, so can you send it to me again. Once again, thanks for a great show, and hopefully we can get down to Southern Jersey for you show in November.

8/12/2000: Morgan whisk412@mindspring.com
Hi, Deborah! It was a pleasure meeting you at the Point a Bryn Mawr, PA! I hope to see you perform again real soon. I'm really enjoying The Book of Survival and Weak at Heart is becoming one of my favorites! The Panic is On is great, too. I have always admired your singing and songwriting, please keep up the good work! Best wishes for continued success, Morgan from Wilmington

8/12/2000: Tim Stevens tstevens@wiaa.com
When my house was burglarized several years back, the one possession that I missed the most was "Animal Logic I." I played that disk to death over one very magical summer, and I will forever equate the tunes and vocals with an incredibly blissful time. I'm thankful that the Internet allows us to be able to keep track of performers. Please let us know if you ever come to Seattle... you will be heartily welcomed!

8/10/2000: JOY INNNACONI joyiannaconi@webtv.net
I love your song Another Night Alone. I have been searching everywhere with it seems no hope of ever being able to retrive a copy of it. Can you please help me?

8/6/2000: Ellen Stratton eps727@aol.com
As I'm posting you are once again on Traditions 89.1 WFDU Teaneck, NJ with Bill Hahn. Just heard your new song about books....possibly the future anthem of librarians throughout the English speaking world. And, why not contact Orthodontis for their professional organizations to support the release of a single which they can present to each new patient. Oh, the possibilites! And now you are singing your Chanukah vs. Christmas song....this one is for the Unitarians and kids from Christian and Jewish marriage. Deborah most folks never know who their audience is. You are way ahead of the pack. Loved hearing you again. Hope to get to Bodles to see you. But work may prevent that. Continued success.

8/5/2000: Bill Harding ( Sadly no close kin of John Wesley ) riobill@prodigy.net
Love the lyrics and the site. Hi Alan! Just downloaded 3 midi's and getting ready for a treat. Bill

8/5/2000: Don McQuillan carsdm@aol.com
Hi Deborah: Just wanted to say hi & thanks for E-mailing me to let me know of your upcoming show in Bryn Mawr, PA (Just outside of Philadelphia.) I caught your show last fall at The Tin Angel (opening for John Wesley Harding.) and I'm looking forward to seeing you perform again. I'll make sure I stop by the CD/mailing list area after your set to say hello. BTW: Any chance you could play "Firing Up The Sunset Gun"? (LOL!) Are requests allowed?? :) Looking forward to your show. Your Fan in Philly, PA Don

7/26/2000: Ken Bopp amandabiker@home.com

7/25/2000: Dave email2me@unforgettable.com
Hi, I was just remembering an Animal Logic song that I loved years ago (The Winds of ...?) I always remember the beautiful female vocal on that track and decided to check up after all these years and see what ever happend to Animal Logic. So here I find myself. I will check out some of your new material and try and get hold of that old Animal Logic song that would never quite stop echoing around my head. Glad to see your'e still making music, all the best for the future, Dave (UK).

7/19/2000: Jason Crane lynch4ever@aol.com
Hey, Deborah. Just wanted to let you know I finally got a copy of the pic taken of you and me at the Bluebird Cafe in Nashville earlier this year. Looks great! Anyway, it was very nice meeting you after being such a fan of yours for so long. You were really nice to sign my CD covers (all five of them!) Now, if I could just get that copy of FS we talked about..... =)

Howdy Deborah. I'm trying to find a cd with the song you sing like no other. It's title is "Another night alone" Can you, or anyone give me a source and/or title of the CD with this song on it? Thanks and the best to you and yours. Tom Fellows

7/7/2000: Josh Shepherd pbjshep@kih.net
I've been reading these messages about the Fright Night II track. My personal fave, the one got me hooked as a fan, was the love theme from the wonderful low-budget sci-fi flick "Circuitry Man." The whole movie spins on the strength of that song - as well as some wonderful acting. So what is this, Deborah - a passion for b-grade sci-fi and horror? Maybe this growing fan base can contribute to a release of your movie music. Confer with Randy Newman, maybe. I've been hoping and praying Rhino or Reprise would re-release his original soundtrack to "Ragtime." Anyway, Book of Survival and The Panic is On are wonderful. Anybody have Animal Logic cds they want to sell?

6/20/2000: Jim B. jimstick@nothinbut.net
Hello all! I am looking for any live audio or video of Animal Logic or Deborah solo. Chicago "ParkWest" show that was on FM radio in 1990 and TV broadcast of London "Town and Country Club" show.(If it exists). Also, anyone trying to get Deb's movie music, hook you VCR up to a CD-R or cassette recorder and rent the movie.Works best on a HI-FI VCR. (Fright Night 2,Afterburn end credits) So Long, Love You,Deborah!

6/14/2000: Amber Jackson tlj@HiWAAY.net
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew where I could find a cd and sheetmusic (piano) that has Deborah Holland's song "Come to Me" on it? The song was featured in both movies, "Fright Night" & "Fright Night 2". Me and my sister want the cd and sheetmusic to it so that we can learn how to play it on our instruments. I have searched everywhere for it, but no luck. Someone please help me out. Email me at tlj@HiWAAY.net Thanks, Amber

Hi Deborah, I was rooting around your site last week and hit the Performances button and found that you'll be back in the New York area in August. That's great, and I am looking forward to seeing you at Bodles Opera House in August. Any chances of recording the show for release? Or any live show for that matter?

5/10/2000: Kevin Lautz abhann@kvalley.com
I was rooting through some boxes the other day and came across an AL II tape, and I wondered, "What ever happened to Deborah Holland"? (Isn't the Internet wonderful?). Glad to see you're doing well, and still performing. I look forward to your visiting the Northwest sometime...Cheers

5/4/2000: patrick bolek pbolekmusek@att.net
hello professor holland-great site and awesome music! i accidentally typed in www.deborahholland.com and got sent to a site with a woman who has the same name, sells real estate, and is pictured in a really bad hat. your site is better. see you in class on monday.

4/25/2000: Deborah Holland
Boy, oh boy, everybody wants the soundtrack work I've done. The problem is none of it is available, and you have no idea how hard it would be to get the rights. If there's some determined entrepreneur with a lot of money you have my blessing to go after these songs and release it. You won't get rich but you'll make a few hundred or so people happy.

4/22/2000: Garry Robinson garryleerobinson@breathemail.net
Hi Deborah Any further news on the track Come to Me from the film Fright Night? Your assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Dear Debbie Holland, knowing your voice of heart, your deep lyrics and your warm'n'fantastic melodies from Animal Logic - I simply like you very much! Your songs are timeless masterpieces in popular music. I'm looking forward to listen to your solo albums not knowing about their existence up to now. Hope you will find inspiration all the time you need it! Yours sincerely - with love and best wishes for you Mario Pohl from Germany

3/25/2000: Todd Richards dd@radiolink.net
Greetings ms Holland. I to am a long-time fan since the days of Animal Logic. I remember vividly walking across my college campus listing to "I'm Through With Love" on the walkman - what a beautiful song, and a beautiful moment. I came across your website by way of the AL fansite on freeservers.com - I was very surprised to see how much non-album and live material was released outside the USA (bummer for us!). Congratulations on your solo ablums - I can't wait to add them to my collection. I hope that you tour soon, - I almost went to see you, Mr.Copeland and Mr.Clarke open for Jean Luc Ponty here in Cleveland - but then the AL thing was over....bummer. :( Finally congratulations on your other fine accomplishment - teaching. That can sometimes be as hard as landing a record deal! Thank you for the fine music - and all the best in the future. Todd Richards - DJ + music lover Cleveland Ohio.

3/16/2000: Rodrigo T rxteles@hotmail.com
Ms. Holland...what about a tour in Europe? Don't you think it's time for you to bless the europeans with your voice?

3/16/2000: Rodrigo manalves@hotmail.com
I'm a really huge fan of Deborah and there's something i'd like to find out. WHERE CAN I FIND AN SPECIFIC SONG THAT YOU PLAYED IN THE MOVIE "FRIGHT NIGHT 2 - 1989" called Come to me? I went all over London and nobody seems to know anything about it. If anyone can enlighten me...please do!! Besides that, your albuns are practically impossible to find here in Europe!! Keep up the good work and never stop delightening us with your beautiful voice!!

3/11/2000: cyril cyrilmergens@yahoo.com
I've allways been a sucker for the female voice and yours is, well "Like butter"! Keep it up and when are you coming to minnesota, its not that cold here-really!

3/10/2000: Pete Stypuloski styp@earthlink.net
I just love your voice and wanted to tell you so.

2/24/2000: John Reda jrcd654@aol.com
Hi Deborah, I'm sorry I missed your performances in the New York area last year, and I was wondering whether you'll be back in NY in 2000. Also can we expect new music this year?

2/11/2000: chad bailey baileystratcat@cs.com
After just finishing listening to your new disc I had to take the time to drop you a line to say THANK YOU! Once again you have managed to blow me out of the water with a album of amazing songs and that wonderful voice of yours. Its refreshing to find in this day and age someone who takes the high road and places substance over the "lets grind out the same old crap and make a quick buck" mentality that seems so common-place in the music industry these days. The songs on the first Animal Logic disc changed the way I thought about what music should, and could, be and made me seriously re-consider my own songwriting and guitar playing(tip of the hat to Michael Thompson). Again, Thank you Hope to see you playing in the south central PA region soon ( Animal Logic @ the Metron in Harrisburg PA,way too many years ago). Peace PS- Any thoughts on a Animal Logic reunion?(you must get sick of that question)

1/19/2000: Lou Melamed fatlou@hotmail.com
I bought a copy of "The Panic Is On" after hearing some of the song's on Mike Regenstrief's folk show in Montreal on CKUT-FM. A great album but I wish it was longer. I hope you do more albums like that. Thanks. Lou Melamed

1/15/2000: vineeth vineeth78@angelfire.com

1/11/2000: Phyllis pk13@is9.nyu.edu
Hi There, I am Deborah's cousin Phyllis to whom she refers in her song, The End of the World on Book of Survival. I wanted to alert everyone to the fantastic article that appears in the current issue (#86 - February/March 2000) of Dirty Linen. If you'd like a copy, you can order the current issue through their website, www.dirtylinen.com. I can't wait for her to come back to the east coast. I miss you, cuz. Love, Phyllis

1/5/2000: Dave djturney33@aol.com
Hello Deborah, I have been a big fan of yours sine Spy in the House... in '89. I was very happy to find out that you have a new CD out, now...(I'll be ordering it tomorrow...) Anyway, is there any source, that you know of, where I can get another copy of Freudian Slip? I accidentally dropped my copy and now the CD is scratched. The first two songs don't play without skipping, and they happen to be two of my favorite songs on the disc. Needless to say, I am kicking myself now, for it! Any help you, or anyone else that may happen to read this, can be is greatly appreciated. Please try to make it to the Tampa Bay area when you plan you next tour. We haven't seen you here since the first tour for Animal Logic, in '89.(that show was fantastic, by the way) Take care and keep the songs coming! Dave

1/5/2000:
Hi!

12/29/1999: Jason Lockwood jason_lockwood@hotmail.com
Ms. Holland: I was a big fan of Animal Logic and I also enjoyed "Freudian Slip" a lot. I'm happy to see you are still recording and touring. I wonder, however, if you have any plans in the new year to tour the southwest. As a Phoenix, AZ resident, I would love to get the chance to see you live.

12/23/1999: Lori Guthrie lorig1@cmservnet.com
Happy Holidays, Deborah! Thanks for sharing your beautiful voice with us.

12/17/1999: Deborah Holland dhollan@calstatela.edu
Hey everybody! It was suggested to me that I post a response to all your wonderful postings. I try and answer every message personally but a few slip through the cracks. I've been touring quite a bit and have met many of you these past few months. I'm working on trying to book a southeast tour for March and a Pacific northwest tour for June. I'll be starting a once-a-month Genghis Cohen (in Los Angeles) performance. In Feb., there will be a feature article about me in Dirty Linen magazine, as well as a review of The Book of Survival in Sing Out! magazine, and a brief article in Performing Songwriter. But enough about me! Thanks to all of you for your support and appreciation, it's what keeps me going. Happy Holidays. I'll see you in 2000, Deborah (Holland)

12/13/1999: Lucille Younger lwy@aol.com
A rousing performance in Chicago last night, Deborah. Thanks. I hope you keep your promise and return again before 10 years go by. Hearing you is great--but seeing and hearing you is a treat for the senses and the mind. What an inspiration you are! Hope everyone gets the opportunity to experience. But, don't let "everyone" keep you from coming back to Chicago. Lucille.

12/12/1999: Gary Sosnick HopeOrch@aol.com
Caught your show tonight (12/11/99) at The Ark in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Phenomenal songwriting and an outstanding vocal performance. A 20-minute set was simply not enough! Enjoyed immensely, speaking with you after your set. Without question, you and Aimee Mann are the two finest female singer/songwriters of the 1990's. Please return to southeastern Michigan ASAP! My guess is that a 2-hour performance would probably cover most of the songs your fans need to hear.

12/10/1999: Andy Smith smitha@cooley.edu
Just got back from the Lansing,MI show and enjoyed the part I got to see! I have heard about 5 of the new songs and love them. Hope to see you again!

12/8/1999: John Thomas jtl331@aol.com
Hi again,

11/27/1999: John Reda jrcd654@aol.com
Hi Deborah, I finally picked up Book of Survival and I think it is just great. While the music is somewhat stripped down as compared to Freudian Slip, I was certainly not disappointed. I am in the New York area and unfortunately couldn't make your shows. Will you be heading this way again any time soon? Glad to see that you are still making consistently strong music, just don't wait so long in between releases.

11/19/1999: Bob Daniels thefarm@zen.co.uk
Well I'll be blowed!, I listened to the 1st Animal Logic album this morning for the first time in a long while and then thought "I'll search Deborah Holland on the net" There seem to be a whoile load of fans out there!. Just to say thanks for two great albums, love the voice, still sends shivers down my spine :-) If you ever make it to the UK I'll be there, just got to order your solo albums See you later B

11/15/1999: Al Peters ablpete@netnitco.net

Hello Deborah, Having been a HUGE Animal Logic fan since 1989, I'm really looking forward to hearing your solo material, which, admittedly, up to now I have not yet heard. I really adore your songwriting with Animal Logic, and I hope to catch your upcoming performances at Cal State LA and Pasadena City College. All the best.

10/23/1999: C. Lance Barnett C_Lance@pacbell.net
I heard you this morning on the University of California, Santa Cruz station. Your approach to music is refreshingly candid and commendable. You are adding to the quality of music. And, I appreciate it. Thnx

10/21/1999: Bernard Kelticdude@aol.com
In listening to my better half, I have discovered you and wonder why I don't listen to her more often. But, not to tarry, you are great. Bern

10/20/1999: Ellen Stratton eps727@AOL.com
Heard your in studio on "Traditions" WFDU 89.1, Teaneck, NJ with Host: Bill Hahn. You were clear as a bell and your songs are clever and beautifully constructed. Wish I had had a chance to see you at a local venue. How do you travel from coast to coast by air with your guitar?

10/18/1999: Jason Crane lynch4ever@aol.com
Just picked up your latest, "Book of Survival". I've only listened to it twice so far, but it's outstanding! It doesn't have the multi-layered sound of the Animal Logic albums, or even "Freudian Slip". But the accent this time seems to be on your wonderful, one-of-a-kind voice. I have recently moved back to Nashville, TN, so let me echo the sentiments of others who have posted here: please come to Nashville!

10/13/1999: bryan bward@sonicfuel.com
just got the new cd from cdnow. great music; really like the stripped down sound this time. favorite tracks after one listen are 'kids with guns' and 'irene' and 'everything but a soul'. you wouldn't happen to have any old posters of animal logic laying around would you? if so, email me please. when are you headed to 'nashvegas, tn'? keep putting out the great tunes for us!

10/2/1999: Jay Kogen JayKogen@aol.com
The photo of you by James F. Dean is terrific. Is this the same James F. Dean who's an actor, singer, song writer in Los Angeles?

Hi Deborah, Where should I begin? After reading a majority of your fans messages, what can I say that hasn`t been mentioned before? Well, I hate to say it, but I too am a drummer very fond of Stewart..., I had the pleasure of seeing you perform in Toronto/CANADA with Animal Logic back in 89. Yes I am Canadian! You guys were great! One of my questions is this, since I just had an Animal Logic shirt come to me in the mail, how come there were none available at the show? I have also been looking for that huge banner Stewart hung behind his drums, ya know it`s black and has the 3 Dalmations on it? I also must ask if you collect all of your cd`s including all the PROMO stuff? I mean do you really know how much is out there? I have everything Animal Logic ever released, and I was shocked at the wicked PROMO items!!! Do you know about the 3" Japanese cd of "There`s a Spy...?", or the 4 track LIVE promo cd single? I have all the other PROMO cd singles and the PROMO cassette, but I just have to know if you collect the stuff as well? You see, I play in a REGGAE band called "EQUALIZER", and we are just recording out 1st cd!!! I am reading up on how to properly market and promote our disc as we are not signed. I`d be happy to ship you a copy when it`s completed. At the moment we have quite a following here in Montreal CANADA, and out music is very original; We call it "Kinky Reggae", it blends jazz, funk, and even a little hip-hop and jungle, but the feel is always in a reggae style! Anyways I am blabbing away, but I`d love to get some feedback from you. Unfortunately, your solo stuff wasn`t available here in Canada. I had to special order Fruedian Slip from NY. I didn`t even know you had more solo stuff, until someone emailed me with your website. I thought you disappeared! I`m glad you didn`t!!! Cheers, Jonathan

Chuck Lidtz' comments beg the question: do you have a bio? One on your site would be nice. Your music is hearty when it needs to be, soft where it should be and original all over. I'm glad to be added to the list of (what I imagine is) an ever-growing chain of fans and admirers. If you ever wind your way to Chicago, you'll find it a good, receptive little town. Continued graces to you.

9/16/1999: Chuck Lidz Chuck.lidz@umassmed.edu
I am very interested whether you went to high school in the New Haven suburbs in the early '60's as I did and are the same Deborah Holland I knew then who played folk music? By the way, I heard you on Maine Public Radio and, whether or not you are the same one, you are damn good.

9/3/1999: Jan Jayem25@aol.com
You go, girl! I listened to four of your CD's (Note: If it comes up, I listened on my lunch hours! Honest!), and I really liked "Freudian Slip," but "The Book of Survival" is a real stand out, in my opinion. I would love playing this back-to-back with my Joni Mitchell greatest hits CD. (And I LOVE my Joni Mitchell greatest hits CD!) So, if I get a raise one day, I'll go out and buy "The Book of Survival." :o) Be well! ...Jan M.

8/26/1999: Joseph Arruda (a.k.a. "Are you THE Deborah Holland?" mrzenn@precog.com
Hello Deborah, it's me again. Well, I've just gotten my hands on a copy of The Book of Survivaland I have been slowly trying to absorb it. Several things come to mind: 1. Your compositional sense is highly flexible. You have been able to pare down to the more sparse arrangements really well (given that you seem pretty comfy with the dense and layered sound of some of your past work) 2. Your humour is thankfully intact (Pinochet and Margaret Thatcher nearly gave me an anerysm...in a good way) Now in regards to #1, are the sparse arrangements a by-product of the folkier direction you seem to have been developing? Or is it a function of LA music scene economics? (If that's rude I apologize, but just curious). As far as which tunes have grabbed me immediately (I am literally listening to it for the second time since I got it this morning): The Book of Survival, Kids With Guns (I'm hearing some Monk-ish dissonance again Deborah... kudos for that ;), Irene, & The End of the World (Neil Sedaka meets Dave Matthews). As to your former band-mates, Stewart keeps a lower profile than Jimmy Hoffa, and Stanley's new group could use a singer (hint, donate a song to the next Vertu album, not because I dislike instrumental music, but because I don't want to hear Richie Kotzen sing again). Blessings and other such things, Joseph

so wonderful to see the new site and even more fabulous to see a new cd is coming! great news! i've been a longtime fan of your songs, music and it's good to see that great indie music lives on! long live indie rock! please play nashville sometime....maybe the bluebird...

8/3/1999: John Thomas jtl@aol.com
My ex-bass player handed me a cassette one day and said, "We gotta do Rose Colored Glasses. Check this out." When I asked him who it was I was listening to, he said, "Stewart Copeland, Stanley Clarke, and 'some woman'." Well, we ended up doing the tune for a while, and I'm proud to say that each and every one of us (especially him) contributed our parts to absolutely butchering it. You might also like to know, however, that we eventually broke up, so at least we won't be insulting you in public again any time soon. Anyway, ever since then, I've been wondering just who it was that's been performing under the name 'some woman', and since I recently found the tape again, and have been enjoying it anew (and especially enjoying discovering many of the other tunes which he didn't give me the time to listen to at the time), I decided to try the Internet, and find out once and for all who the heck you were (or are). Needless to say, it worked! So from here on, in my home, you're Deborah Holland, or, The Artist Formerly Known as 'Some Woman'. Signed, a FAN (as in big fan).

7/27/1999: John Szpara exposure@ix.netcom.com
Hey, Deborah! Your music means sooo much to me and my wife. I enjoy all of your albums, and one of our all time favorite albums is Animal Logic II. I like to play it for my wife on lazy Sunday mornings, or when we are on one of our many driving trips around Northern California. What I wouldn't give for another album with the sophistication, playfulness and atmospherics of Animal Logic II. PLEASE let us know if you'll be playing live on the west coast. If you have a mailing and/or email list, put us on!

7/23/1999: Don McQuillan CarsDM@aol.com
Hello Deborah: I just recently came across your home page and was glad to find information on your latest CDs & projects. I am a huge fan of both "Animal Logic" and your solo work. Especially the songs you performed in the film "Circuitry Man". I own a VHS copy of the film, but was curious if a 'Soundtrack' album ever accompanied the movie. (If so I'd love to find a copy !) I hope to catch one of your solo show in the future. When will you be playing in the PA/NJ/Delaware area ? Best of luck to you. Your fan in Philadelphia PA, Don

7/23/1999: Rob Cowart robo.programmer@dazone.com
Hello again Deborah (& K.M.)! I regularly enjoy both your FS & Panic CDs. I especially like "All My Friends Are Leaving" having left L.A. myself. (I would like to know what "the normal kind" is.) I hope you email us when your new release is ready. Thanks for everything! Rob Cowart, Virginia Beach, VA

Hello Deborah. I have enjoyed all your cd's very much ever since the first Animal Logic. I deeply regret not seeing you in LA when I was there after your first cd. I was a somewhat poor musician/student at the time. If you achieve the success commesurate with the quality of your work we will see you at the Grammys soon. Best wishes, Steve

I have been a fan of Ms. Holland ever since I inadvertently caught the video to "Spy in the House of Love". Animal Logic performed in Nashville that year, but unfortunately I wasn't 21 at the time and couldn't get in. So, I had to console myself with the CD. I have both Animal Logic CD's,her solo albums, and love them all. I look forward to her new album, but would LOVE to see a new Animal Logic album. Santa, are you listening? Anyway, I'll keep an eye on your site and see if any concerts in the Tampa Bay area will be listed since I've recently moved there. Thanks for all your great music that has meant so much to me over the years, Deborah! You're the best!

6/24/1999: Marc Fevre MFevre@cedco.com
Ms. Holland. From the dates of the other entries in your guestbook, it would appear that this is a pretty new new Web site. I'm glad to have found a place on the Web where I can go in order to keep tabs on your work. Like many, I first heard your music in Animal Logic, and since then I have enjoyed following your work as a soloist. Keep up the great work! Regards, Marc Fevre Napa, CA

6/9/1999: Brain J. Furst bjfurst@jps.net
Hello agian. I wrote before saying thanks for your music and how much I look forward to seeing you perform. Well I unfortunately missed my chance. Since this is they only way I can find to get a message to you. I have a favor to ask. With you being one of my top musical influences, and being a professor of music, I was wondering if you could help me with a school project. I would like produce myself for a engineering project. The only problem is I can't write very well. I would appreciate any and all help from you. This is alot to ask of someone you don't know, but think of me as a student. Thanks again!

6/6/1999: joseph arruda jsarruda@ucdavis.edu
I'm back. Wanted to say soemthing since I noticed that the majority of the folks on the guestbook are either fixated on ALogic (or in the one case, asking for a connection to Stewart, LOL).

While I am partial to the ALogic stuff (I am a drummer and even share the same birthday as Stewart after all), I would like to say that your own work is just fine on its own. Keep doing what you're doing. Although I wouldn't mind seeing you take another stab at jazzier arrangements (any way I could convince you to write lyrics for Thelonius Monk tunes and perform them?) ;)

I also think you would sound incredible good working with Wendy Melvoin and Lisa Coleman (ring any bells?).

6/6/1999: Joseph Arruda jsarruda@ucdavis.edu
Hello Deborah, It's me again (the guy who emailed you out of nowhere with 'is this THE deborah holland?' to which your reply was something like 'which THE deborah holland are you looking for?') Glad to see things are going well, and that you have some stuff in the works for release. Any chance of tour dates in bay area or other parts of Northern Cal? Any chance of any b-side or rare tracks from history surfacing (e.g. 'Lopsy Lu' or 'Night Owl')? Blessings and regards, joseph

6/5/1999: Joseph Piscopo Melodie83@aol.com
Deborah,I just want to tell you how wonderfull you are.I am a singer/songwriter myself and the 2 albums you recorded with Animal Logic were amazing.i wish you would record with them again.Stewart Copeland was the reason I gave Animal Logic a chance being a big Police fan and I was not sorry becoming a fan of Animal Logic. keep writing those great songs

6/2/1999: Brian Furst bjfurst@jps.net
I was introduced to "Animal Logic" oddly enough from an ex-girlfriend. I would just like to express my thanks for your inspirational music and I look forward to hearing your solo work. I would have before, but I was unable to get any info on you or "Animal Logic". Thanks Again and I look forward to seeing you perform.

6/1/1999: John Reda jrcd654@aol.com
Hi Deborah, I, like the others who have signed your guestbook, "discovered" you through your association with Stewart Copeland and Stanley Clarke. I find it amazing how that happens, finding such a gifted writer and singer through their associations with more well known artists. I have both Animal Logic CD's plus your two solo projects, and now that I know you have also done film soundtracks I'll look for those as well. I was wondering, will there be another Animal Logic project in the not-too-distant future?

5/12/1999: Ed Toth
Ms. Holland, I am a 30 year old drummer from Boston who discovered your material via being a Copeland fan. I have to say that you are without a doubt one of my favorite songwriters !! ( Ohers include, Aimee Mann, Jimmy Webb, Neil Finn, and Joni Mitchell, just to name a few ) The melody lines and hooks especially are killin'. My current band (Vertical Horizon on the RCA label) is performing songwriter oriented and I have totally turned them on to your magic. Just wanted to say thanks for being one of those writers who constantly touches me musically. ( and your voice is so beautiful ! ) Can't wait to hear the new stuff. Hope we meet someday. Sincerely, Ed Toth

5/2/1999: bman virtual@cyberverse.com
yo deb, i am not familiar with all of your stuff, to be honest the only music of yours that i can currently identify you with is the soundtrack from the film "circuitry man" that music was good enough for me, i am not at all suprised to find you hanging with stanley and stewart. i rent "circuitry man" all of the time and your music just grabs me i just LOVE female jazz singers, i am very partial to singer-songwriters and you are no doubt one of the best i have heard. i look forward to buying and listening to the rest of your music. you are terrific! bman

4/26/1999: Marco Lara lara_marco@hotmail.com

4/19/1999: Michael Faurot mfaurot@atww.org
I'm not a musician, but I think I have the terminology right when I say, "I really love your progressions." Thanks for the great tunes on Animal Logic and Animal Logic II.

4/15/1999: Bob Patterson bob@jazzguitar.com
Deborah, I happened on your page while randomly surfing. I have to tell you what an inspiration your work on the Animal Logic albums were to me and my musical compatriots. I'm also happy to see that you're still out there. I'll definitely pick up your solo CDs. I still find myself humming Stone Inside My Shoe and Winds of Santa Ana from time to time. (I flew into John Wayne in a DC-9 in those winds, so I know what they're about!) Deborah, thanks again and keep 'em coming! Bob

4/12/1999: Tom Duval tomd@avs.com
Thanks again for your music - it's an inspiration - and thanks for the email. Best wishes to a fine artist.
